Picture yourself as a blind person. Try to close your eyes for 5 minutes. And then try to do your daily activities with your eyes closed. Very hard isn’t it? Especially, we are normal person who simulate that blindness condition. Without any intention to disrespect any handicapped people, I would say that it will be easier for they who are blind since they were born, to live their life, rather than normal peoples who suddenly become unable to see.
Now imagine if a city where we live in, affected with a sudden blindness-epidemic. People , who are doing their chores, suddenly only see total white lights. Yes, not a dark-black blindness. But ‘white’ blind instead. Taxi driver which is driving the cab, or policeman in chasing of a burglar, suddenly can’t see. Could you imagine how chaotic that city will be?
For control and preventive action, let say that the government evacuate and quarantine all the epidemic victims into a quarantine zone, but with one condition.. no normal people will take care of them. Hundreds of blindman should take care of themselves. Yes, meals will be provided for them every morning/afternoon/evening, but they will take the foods by themselves from a shelter. Could you imagine how will they measure and divide the allocation of the foods, for hundreds of blindman, by themselves who can’t even count the amount of the meals?
I won’t discuss deeper details of the condition, you could describe by yourself. But this is what Jose Saramago, author of ‘Blindness’, has in his minds.
Reading half of the book makes me realize already, that sometimes, we often act like a blind person. We pretend unable to see other people’s trouble. We often consider our matters as the most important things to be concerned of, and other people’s as nothing significant to ours.
No wonder we live in a chaotic life. Not only our eyes that not sensitive to our surrounding’s matters. But also our heart that, often, blind.

Beside telco, maybe my other deep interest will be architecture and building design. I always amazed by skyscrapers building like Taipei 101 which has a gigantic 660 tons stabilizer ball on the peak level:

But I think it’s useless how tremendeous the design or the shape of the building is, if it just symbolize human’s prestige without consider the ‘Green’ spirit of environmental aspect. That’s why lately, we often to hear the so-called Green Building. And how they made these green building is very very awesome….
So many aspects to be calculated, or brilliant ideas for environmental purpose are done to made a green skyscraper such as Hears Tower on New York:
I’ll write more about green building, but before that.. I have to do a little research about these Green Buildings. And one more thing.. most of green building’s pre-design are rejected to be implemented since Green Building usually cost 10-15% more than usual building with the same dimension.

5. Compromise easily.
6. Cannot determine whether development requirement for a technology is high or low.
7. Creates product based on specification without having interest in why it must be based on the specification.
8. Doesn’t show effort to get outside information.
9. Doesn’t listen to other people’s opinion. Not cooperative.
10. Always make up excuses.
If you have just 3 of them, then you are still “green”.

Well, it’s been months since I write my last posting. Here I am sitting on my couch, listening to the Zep’s Jamaicah (D’yer M’ker actually… )

Bonyok (bokap and nyokap) are having a trip. So I’m all alone at home. Feel lonely, missing my Tri, hungry, and definitely feeling very hot (jakarta = hell’s kitchen)…
Contemplate the last 2 years of my life, I realize how very lucky I am now. Having a job in a company that I always wish for, having a family that so supportive and always back me up, and also… having my Tri as my partner in crime, as my sharing-partner . So grateful for your bless, Lord.
Maybe some of you recognize the title above is actually discovery channel’s slogan, ‘the world is just awesome’. Pretty appropriate, in my opinion. Well, though we often confronted with an uncomfotable, stressfull, like-hell situation, we should admit that He always gives us what we need, always take care of us.
As a Liverpudlian, I always remember lyrics of Liverpool’s anthem. A song titled as ‘You’ll never walk alone’, a gospel song it is.

Taking a nice, quite nap, I was awaken by Poti’s call. Thanks to the call, my 2 hours sleep ended with a conversation about how boring this holiday is. Yeah… very boring indeed, to be inprison at home while actually I could meet Tri to watch movies, or play with my friends, sipping coffee. Mmm…
Anyway, after calling Tri (she’s working .. how come Frisian Flag doesn’t give company holidays like other normal company), I watch television.
‘Browsing’ and looking channel by channel, I notice that foreign TV broadcaster/provider has similar trend with local Indonesian TV. They all show serials with typical theme. Let say.. themes like ‘life in hospital’ (House, Grey’s Anatomy, and I remember the old school ‘ER’ series), or reality shows such as Contender, Bad Girls Club, and the one which very popular, Amazing Race. The shows are very typical, aren’t they?
And one topic that very eye-catching, notably after appearance of legendary CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) in Oct 2000, is about crime or detective’s analysis on finding the suspects. There are so many of them: Numb3rs, CSI:Miami, CSI: New York (and hopefully, they’ll make CSI:Bali), Criminal’s Mind, In Plain Sight, and others that I bet you can mention 3 more serials, at least.
And we always thought, only Indonesia’s local sinetron that has tendencies to show look-alike, similar topic serials. Hmm… it makes me thinking maybe there are also Punjabi’s family member in America..
Punjabi: King of Indonesia’s Sinetron, maybe Indonesia’s most influential person (yeah.. not the president) which shape Indonesian’s degenerate mentality with his completely meaningless, inproper-to-watch, very very idiotic shows, Punjabi’s Sinetron.

Feeling suspicious (I assume my friend here already stress and desperate, so try to convince himself about his imaginary ‘Susan’ by put this new status), I called him.
Instantly, I had an idea to making fun of him . He answered the phone, and I said:
“Good morning, may I speak to Mr. ***** ******??”
“Yes, it’s me”
“I’m from Bank Mandiri. Calling you about your overdue loan, Sir.”
“What loan?”
“Your KPR loan, Mr. ****. I hope you’ll, soon, able to paid off your obligation. The amount you should paid, by this week, is 52 million rupiahs.”
“WHAT????”
I thought that frightened-expression was enough, so I cut the crap. I couldn’t bear to laugh, then..
We continue to chat about our jobs. Then.. I’m the one who quite surprised, heard about his plan to work overseas. Wow.. that is very great men! Hope you could give your best in your future company .
After hang up the call, it makes me thinking.. “am I a kind of person that very slow on pursuing my dreams??” Hm… I hope not.

Have you ever noticed TransTV’s programs? Correct me if I’m wrong, but if we compare it to the other Indonesia’s TV stations, TransTV definitely dares to challenge the mainstream programs; such as Punjabi’s sinetron, or celebrity’s gossip show, and others that -in my opinion- reflect idiocy..
Not only that TransTV offers us different entertainments, but one thing that made me stunned is, Trans always put inside a little bit of nationalism value in some (or maybe most) of its shows. Let me show you:
- last night, Trans made an ordinary music concert.. just a bunch of Indonesia’s music group and Ag-Mon (agnes maunikah) attractively danced. But the concert was titled as ‘Indonesia Bisa!‘.. Remember ‘Panggung Spektakuler RC*I’? or ‘Digoyang Dangdut TP*’? see the difference?
I know it’s only a matter of naming.. But you are what you think.. If you think that you can move a building, you will try as hard as you can be; though you finally failed, at least you’ve tried. This title ‘Indonesia Bisa!’ definitely gave motivation to its viewers, though maybe only a little.
- TransTV has ‘Wisata Kuliner’ or ‘Koper dan Ransel’, which actually, most of the entire program shows local Indonesia’s food and tourism attraction.. also note that ‘Wisata Kuliner’ is hosted by Bondan Winarno, a famous Indonesia’s tourism patriot.
You think you can find similar program in other TV stations? nope.. Just a thought, ‘Virgie’s travel guide in Met*oTV’ always shoot European or Far East’s beauties; as if no heavenly view, like Bunaken or Komodo Island, are exist in Indonesia..
- One last thing.. you can count the number of sinetron and gossip infotainment in TransTV. I bet it’s fewer than RC*I, or SC*V, or any other..
Under the leadership of Ishadi SK, TransTV has made a very big leap in Indonesia’s broadcast industry. Previously pak Ishadi was TVRI’s director and being pushed-back because of his character that very open-minded and always willing to blow the wind of changes in TVRI.. Salute for you, pak Is!

5 minutes later, I felt my mouth start to be normal again.. (oh no!). and that was when the doctor said, “okay.. finish with the tooth. now it’s time to stitch the wound.” :: glek.. ::
yeah.. and that remaining 5 minutes has been the longest 5 bloody minutes of my life..

and.. this is the case why I pull off one of my tooth:
my last wisdom tooth in the right has grown horizontally.. and that’s the reason for my migraine every time I felt exhausted or bending down to long..
it ‘squeeze’ its neighbor teeth and causing impact on the nerve..
so.. for you guys that oftenly/periodically felt abnormal headache or migraine.. check your teeth!

yesterday i did something very hilarious, introduced a so-called ‘touch-screen’ technology to mom and dad ).. mann, it’s easier than i thought. it only took 5 minutes to see their faces turned from ‘holy crap! what is this thing!’ into ‘so this is touch-screen? not so awesome, son’. heheh.

so i gave this sony ericsson x10 mini to my mom, because she always wants a new cell-phone with touch-screen feature. i didn’t explain about the HSDPA capability, wiFi, built-in accelerometer and other cool stuffs inside that phone to mom, because i know that she would nevermind those ‘creepy never-heard-before things’ and just wanted to feel that dragging and pushing virtual buttons on the screen..

today, budhism is one of the most popular religion. there are so many symbolic statues or monuments that represent the ‘Buddha’. let say.. Borobudur in Indonesia or Wat Pho temple in Thailand.
and last time.. I found Tian Tan Buddha or so-called ‘Big Buddha’ ; which was very very amazing of how they made it actually.. it was 34m high, and located upside a hill.
by looking up to the Big Buddha, you could imagine the glorious of Buddha when receiving the enlightenment long long time ago..
P.S.: prepare yourself to climb 300 steps of the ladder, just to reach the Buddha..

You know the cost of that tape.. any brand of the tape could cost more than 25 thousand Rp, and its only to capture 30 photos, maybe. And not mention yet the cost to process the tape and print the photos.. weww, no way dah.

Since their 4th album (viva la vida), they have been constantly putting strings section in most of their ‘killer’ singles. As in the beginning of this song, we can feel the strings flowing down our ears gently and mild..
but then 35secs after enjoyable set of strings, Guy Berryman slaps our mind with a bold distorted bass.. and as usual coldplay’s signature, we can hear Chris Martin’s signature voice with his piano melodies.
going through the 2nd chorus, a gap between Jonny Buckland’s rhythm and Guy’s bass is like asking us to jump and scream as loud as we can! really breathtaking..

it was just last week when Tri and I read this Samuel Mulia’s column in Kompas, which entitled ‘nanti aja lah’..
this motivating column began with Samuel’s self-true story, which was so simple example I guess, about how he actually always delayed to write his column in Kompas
he told that Kompas’s editor always expecting 1 finalized page of Samuel’s writing, before Friday night. it’s an easy math.. so Samuel had actually 5 full days to finish the paper, from Monday to Friday. but what happened was, so predictable, Samuel always put aside his task to finish the column; though he finally made it before the deadline and wrote this ‘delaying experience’ as his writing inspiration..

we were so enthusiastic with the project, and try to take perfect frames of them.. so we prepared every tools that we need, from flashlights to 33″ umbrella (shot-through and reflector), the lightstands, and also wireless trigger.. it was a great try out

well, actually the picture above was taken in sushi-tei, where no flashlights were allowed. so we took it with high ISO, put the 50mm wide open, and leave the sharpness to be handled by CS3 (photosho*)..

I told Tri over and over, that the song is very coldplay. instantly, I let my mind twisted by that song.. (lebay)
feeling so curious about that song, I tried to remember that vocalist’s tone in my brain, ‘is it travis? nope.. or maybe keane? not also’, and then gave up.. but fortunately, our sony ericsson cell-phones were equipped with an application that so useful for music-lovers like us. it is called ‘TrackID’.. some of you guys might know ‘Shazam’, it is another apps with similar concept.
so I told Tri to grab the phone and run the ‘TrackID’.. it will get some sample of the song, upload it to the server, compare the sample with the database, and got the descriptions of the song.. and it was ‘Gravity’, sung by ‘Embrace’.

after knowing the song, I kept telling Tri that the song is completely so-coldplay-style until she bored with my statements and making a joke with a serious face.. she said, “oh really? I’m a huge fan of coldplay also, dude!”
I was instantly shocked, looked at her face, and then a little bit giggled.. then I asked her, “oh yeah? mention 5 coldplay’s songs!”
she answered, “umm.. okay.. let see.. um, yellow.. and then, shiver.. umm, that’s two! umm.. just a minute!”. we began to laugh as I counting down, “5.. 4.. your time is up.. 3.. 2..”.
“a coldplay lover, huh?”, I said..

and now about the supporters.. 80 thousands people singing our national anthem all together? well, that’s truly pumping up my heartbeat. anytime you feel like loosing your nationality because of all those fuc*ing Indonesia’s corruptors.. just remember 80 thousands Indonesian singing one of the best national anthem in the world. and you will won back your nationalism 
only one thing I felt sorry with, ‘Lupang Hinirang’ was played after ‘Indonesia Raya’.. and it was so embarrassing that the 80 thousands crowd kept blowing the trumpets, or yelling, and didn’t respect the Phillipinos. come on, guys.. it was so embarrassing! what will you feel if Malaysian do the same thing to our Indonesia Raya???

Wow.. that’s the only word I say during the match between Indonesia vs Phillipine, just now. I was hardly believe that it was my national football team who play that GOOD..
And what I mean GOOD meaning excellent teamwork, consistent defense, awesome through-passes, beautiful long-balls, and fair-playing attitude.. amazing!
Here are some my remarks regarding the play:
1. perfect placement of each players.. Alfred Riedl is truly an architect. He knows exactly about Okto’s speed, Utina and Bustomi’s accurate long-ball, Maman’s defense consistency, Nasuha + Zulkifli’s wing skills, and of course.. Gonzales + Irfan’s killing attitude. All those strength points were well-combined by Riedl. Bravo to you, mr. Riedl.

, same sunshine, same trees, same garbage-scattered-in-the-streets, but major different about the traffic jam between both cities.. (of course, high tax of the vehicle and less population density)
oh yeah, before that.. I need to share something about this country’s government-owned airline, MH.. man! the seat distance between each row was so narrow, it was like a low-cost-airlines.. even airA*ia is much better (also for having leather-coated seat). but at least they provide white wine, so I could sleep nicely during the flight and forget about my uncomfortable seat..

- strong ethnical mindset, or maybe tendency of racism.. (?). I stay at Kepong district, and it is like a Chinatown. it’s a base for Chinese people and I can hardly found other ethnic.. well, just my 2 cents.
- not so fast economical development of mall and plaza, but the infrastructure establishment, I might say, is spread evenly.. from KLIA going downtown, I could see that the highway was so well-implemented (maybe they use non-corrupted asphalt, not like in Jak-city ).. and also there were 1 or 2 shopping centers, which were spread along the highway..
- if we compare the mall with the one in Jakarta, surely Jakarta’s malls are much more elegant, more high-end, and more choices of the goods.. it makes you want to walk-around the mall, even if you didn’t buy anything. not like in here..

of course, that’s why they put unreasonable price tags on that f1.4 (or above) lens. hahah.
but, something all photogs always put in mind is.. composition. composition means the whole meaning of a picture. a good compo means the saturation is perfect, also the bokeh, the lighting, exposure, white balance.. everything!
I have to admit that since I got along with strobist and lighting stuffs, I kinda forget this compo thing. instead of building a perfect composition, i was to much interested on how to setup a perfect lighting and that inverse-square-law theory..
so now, i’m ready to recall the compo theory and memorize what I saw from Deniek Sukarya and Joe McNally’s photostream

once, i was working in the same project with this Swedish guy, and what i found positive from him: he was accurately punctual, make every statement bold and clear, and always trying to keep personal relationship without mix it with professionalism in working space..
and then i met this South African guy; tough, strong personality (he said one should be persevere enough to make a living in Johannesburg), and beer-all-the-way..
then another project where i met some Australian.. blonde and white people that come from eastern part of the world . looks like they inherit not only British dialect, but also communication manner, sense of humors, but a little bit flexibility in a matter of deadline (maybe it’s because direct neighbouring with Indonesia, geographical-wise)
now i’m working with Thai people, and they are really nice people, and honest as well.

but when it comes to Indonesian; we need to divide them into 2 big different pools. the first type of Indonesian i know is: strivers, people with perseverance, raised with a complex and compact education curricullum, as nice and smiley as Thai people does, just put an Indonesian wherever in this planet and he/she will survive.. that is the first type.
and the second type? well.. Indonesian politicians and corruptors. completely the opposite of the first one.

okay maybe I put my expectation to high when I obtained 2 yongnuo YN-460 last year. I was too intimidated by canon EX-480′s pricetag.. so I took the alternative instead, chinese brand yongnuo.
at first five shots of the flash, it did what it say in the white paper of the product.. guide number up to 46, short recycle time, un-noisy recycle phase, slave mode, bla bla bla.. but after 2 months usage, it started to degrading the performance.. totally crap.

<p>this motivating column began with Samuel’s self-true story, which was so simple example I guess, about how he actually always delayed to write his column in Kompas <img src=)
he told that Kompas’s editor always expecting 1 finalized page of Samuel’s writing, before Friday night. it’s an easy math.. so Samuel had actually 5 full days to finish the paper, from Monday to Friday. but what happened was, so predictable, Samuel always put aside his task to finish the column; though he finally made it before the deadline and wrote this ‘delaying experience’ as his writing inspiration..

arghh.. those 2 simple words ‘maybe later’ are really really the most terrible (yet, popular) excuse a man ever used to delay works/study/anything. an example from me, I used to jogging every morning. but I’ve stopped for about 2 months since I had so many night works recently. and now.. everytime I woke up in the morning and had this ‘little’ willingness to work out, my bloody lazy mind tease me with those words: ‘dude, maybe later lahh’. then I yawning and go back under the blanket..

Me and my friends were looking at each other, telepathically saying “so, wanna try to go out there?”. and before we came to a decision, this Pakistani guy breaking in into our hopelessness saying “my friends, let me take you there!”. what a nice guy..

the food store serves local Arabian food. and as soon as we get in, all of the customers were staring at us. hahah, feels like a model.. no problemo, maybe they have never seen 4 cool telco engineers in the middle of a desert 
we grabbed some chicken curry and 2 big plates of rice, and get out. as we walk just 20 meters from the store, I was just joking raising my thumb like a hitchhiker in hollywood movies. my friends were just laughing, as suddenly this car stopped next to us. from inside, the driver’s hand was waving at us, giving a friendly gesture saying ‘come in!’
I came to him and asked, “how much?”, as I’m sure he will charge us some fee. and this random guy said, “just get in, my friend”. wow.. not just we were so happy to have such a lucky free ride, but also this guy’s voice was extremely funny. it’s like a girl voice, very contradictory with his rough face. hahah.. oh, he was a Syrian guy, by the way.
