Setelah mengikuti kuliah Applied Probability Models di NTUST, akhirnya saya sedikit paham prinsip yg dipake di kuis SuperDeal 2 Milyar.
Pernahkah Anda menonton kuis SuperDeal 2 Milyar di salah satu stasiun televisi swasta Indonesia? Kuis ini sebenarnya sudah pernah ditayangkan sebelumnya di amerika.
RULE:
Aturan kuis ini adalah sebagai berikut:
Tersedia tiga buah ruang dengan tirai yg tertutup. Di balik setiap tirai tersedia sebuah hadiah. Namun dari tiga tirai tersebut, hanya satu tirai yg nilai hadiahnya berharga, misal mobil, sedangkan dua yg lain sama sekali tidak ada nilainya, ZONK.
Seorang peserta kemudian dipersilakan utk memilih satu dari tiga tirai tersebut. Setelah perserta tersebut memilih, pembawa acara (N. Siahaan) akan membuka salah satu dari dua tirai yg lain. Yang dibuka tersebut adalah salah satu dari dua ZONK. Setelah menunjukan ZONK tersebut, sekarang si peserta akan diberi pilihan dari dua tirai yg tersisa, apakah ia akan tetap pada pilihannya atau pindah ke tirai yg lain.
Selama proses dealing ini, pembawa acara jg menawarkan sejumlah uang agar peserta tidak usah memilih tirai, tetapi membawa cukup membawa sejumlah uang tersebut. (bagian ini sebenarnya hanya utk mengecoh peserta, bila peserta tersebut cukup intelek, iya seharusnya konsentrasi dalam memilih pintu, hadiah di salah satu pintu jauh lebih besar dari uang yg ditawarkan.
Perlu kita garisbawahi, sampai disini peserta hanya memiliki dua pilihan tirai, satu berisi hadiah, sedangkan yang satu lagi berisi ZONK (sampah).
PROBLEM: BERAPA PROBABILITAS TIRAI YG PERTAMA KALI DIPILIH PESERTA TERNYATA BERISI HADIAH, SETELAH PEMBAWA ACARA MENYISAKAN DUA TIRAI?
1/2!!
Itulah intuisi alami kita. Karena tersisa dua pintu, ya mau ga mau, pasti probabilitasnya 1/2 utk masing-masing pintu. Apakah yg satu berisi hadiah, atau yg lain yg berisi hadiah…
Benarkah penalaran seperti ini???
Jawaban di atas adalah SALAH!!!
Kasus ini bersifat paradoks, yaitu counter-intuitive. Ternyata probabilitasnya sama sekali berlawanan dengan intuisi kita.
Kalau saya dihadapkan dalam kasus ini, maka yg pasti akan saya lakukan adalah mengganti pilihan saya yg pertama, dan memilih pintu yg satu lagi.
Ada yang tau mengapa?? Probabilitas pintu yg satu lagi itu berisi hadiah meningkat, setelah pembawa acara menyisakan dua pintu!!…
